About Sydney

Soprano, Sydney Dardis, a native of Laguna Niguel, California, recently received a Master of Music degree in Vocal Arts from The Juilliard School, where she studied with Darrell Babidge. Ms. Dardis also completed her undergraduate degree from The Juilliard School as well.

In the upcoming 24/25 season, Ms. Dardis is honored to be named a Studio Artist with Florida Grand Opera, and perform roles such as Papagena in Die Zauberflöte, Frasquita in Carmen, and cover Adina in L’elisir d’amore.

This past Summer 2024, Ms. Dardis was pleased to perform as Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance with Central City Opera, and cover Greta Fiorentino in Street Scene. There, Sydney was honored to be granted the prized, “Outstanding Young Artist” Award.

During her time at The Juilliard School, Ms. Dardis has performed in roles such as Lauretta from Gianni Schicchi, Tytania from A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Flora from The Turn of the Screw; and covered roles such as Littler Zegner Sister from Proving Up, Giannetta from L’elisir d’amore, Amore from L’Orfeo by Rossi, and Anna Reich from Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor.

In 2023, Ms. Dardis was pleased to have been named a winner of the New York Regional District in the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition. In Summer 2022, Ms. Dardis was pleased to be named a Gerdine Young Artist at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, where she performed as the Reporter in Harvey Milk and covered roles such as Frasquita in Carmen and 1st Spirit in The Magic Flute. Then, directly after, she returned to The Aspen Music Festival and School where she covered Zerlina in Don Giovanni and Nannetta in Falstaff, featuring Sir Bryn Terfel as the title role.

In 2021, Ms. Dardis was honored to have been selected as a participant in the 2021 Houston Grand Opera Young Artists’ Vocal Academy. Throughout the summers of 2018 and 2019, Ms. Dardis was pleased to attend The Chautauqua Institution and perform as Tytania from A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Giannetta from L’elisir d’amore. Past operatic roles include Adele in Die Fledermaus and Noèmie in Cendrillon. Orchestral highlights include performing solos with the South Coast Symphony, along with solos from Carmina Burana both in the Denver Opera House, conducted by Larry Livingston, and in the Musco Center for the Arts, conducted by Grant Gershon
